Preamble

Music allows us to celebrate and preserve our cultural heritages, and explore the realms of expression, imagination, and creation resulting in new knowledge. Therefore, every individual should be guaranteed the opportunity to learn music and to share in musical experiences.

Mission Statement

The mission of The W. G. Sanders Middle School Band Program is to advance music education by encouraging the study and making of music.

Goal

Our goal is "to strive for excellence in every area of performance".

W. G. Sanders Middle School, located in Columbia, South Carolina, is the only middle school in our district that has a marching band. The band consistently has over 160 members enrolled in its' classes each school year.

Performing groups include a Pep Band (made up of all 7th and 8th graders), Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, an Advanced Symphonic Band and of course, our "Golden Tigers" Marching Band. The top bands at W.G. Sanders Middle have consistently made excellent and superior ratings at district and state contests, and other area festivals.
